It looks like Jacksonville-based general contractor LandSouth Construction will be going to Disney! Just today, LandSouth Construction executives confirmed that they have been awarded the contract to be the general contractor at Village at Secret Lake, a 432-unit luxury apartment community located four miles west of Disney World’s main entrance.
According to the company’s president and CEO, James Pyle;
This is one of the “largest U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Program Section 221 (d) (4) contracts in the state of Florida.”
HUD Program Section 221 (d) (4) is for multi-family rental apartments and consists of loans that combine construction and permanent financing for apartments. The program is for new construction or major rehab projects and contains no rent restrictions, meaning it can be used for market rate or rent restricted properties.
Here are some interesting facts about the new luxury apartment community:
- Village at Secret Lake will contain 432 luxury apartment units in 12 four-story elevator buildings.
- It will have a resort-style community clubhouse, an Olympic-sized pool, spa, putting green, fitness center and tot lot.
- The community is situated on approximately 30 acres on the new Route 429 Expressway and U.S. Route 192, and is surrounded by Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
