2011 Color Forecast Celebrates Individualism

November 16th, 2010 · Leave a Comment

Trendy has never been more passé. Self-expression is spinning the color wheel in Sherwin-Williams Colormix 2011 collection. The new hues celebrate individualism according to Judith Sisler Johnston, allied member, ASID, and president of Sisler Johnston Interior Design.

“The 2011 color forecast draws on a sense of uniqueness and self-expression.  We are celebrating our individuality, embracing what has personal meaning and shedding what doesn’t. People have discovered they have the opportunity to be true to themselves.”

The 39 colors selected by Sherwin-Williams color experts for 2011 collection are grouped into four palettes:

Purely Refined: An elegant take on timeless hues, this palette is filled with pared down blues, lilacs, greens and grays interwoven with understated neutrals.

Bold Invention: This palette showcases high energy colors that vibrate with spontaneity and rebellion. Vivid greens and a range of intense turquoises and blues dominate the palette with a pop of hot red and unexpected neutrals.

Restless Nomad: Global design highlights ethnic patterns, exotic animal skins and Moroccan and Turkish influences. The color palette includes vibrant pinks and reds, dusky darks and food-influenced hues such as eggplant and cabbage.

Gentle Medley: This palette features pastels and parchment-pale neutrals. The hues are soft and innocent without being sweet.

With so many shades of color to choose from, Sisler Johnston recommends consulting with a licensed interior designer before beginning any interior design project, including do-it-yourself endeavors. It can be a valuable investment to have an expert review the plan and provide recommendations.
