There is great news to report about our city! The city of Jacksonville ranks in the Top 15 of Area Development magazine’s most attractive metropolitan regions for business. Jacksonville was recognized for its business-friendly environment and consistent job growth.

The magazine asked a select group of highly respected industry consultants to name the metro areas they consider the most attractive investment locations, selecting areas of varying sizes as their top picks.

In addition to ranking Jacksonville 15th, the magazine highlighted Northeast Florida’s business growth, including:

• Saft America’s $200 million plant to produce high-tech batteries for the alternative energy industry
• Mercedes-Benz USA opening a 415,000-square-foot facility that employs 160 people
• Crowley’s warehouse space expansion when the maritime and logistics firm moved to a 70,000-square-foot facility at Dames Point
• Boeing announcing 40 new jobs at Cecil Field

The Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce and Cornerstone work tirelessly to promote Northeast Florida as a business destination to site consultants and other business leaders. In addition to its ranking in Area Development, Cornerstone recently hosted a Site Consultant Showcase, presented by CSX. The event provided a first-hand look at the region’s business environment and lifestyle. During their three-day stay, consultants met with business and civic leaders. They also toured the area’s top facilities and attractions for business and pleasure.

“Northeast Florida is a business-friendly city offering an outstanding quality of life,” said Chamber Board of Trustees member Lee Thomas, Rayonier Chairman, president and CEO. “For companies considering a move or expansion, we want Jacksonville to be on the short list.”
