Mark your calendars! The work of Builders Care, the charitable arm of the Northeast Florida Builders Association (NEFBA), will be showcased in a new Building a Difference double feature documentary, The Goodall Family Story,” premiering on Saturday, Jan. 19, at the Florida Theatre.

The two-part documentary will chronicle the story of Kenny and Karen Goodall and their six children. This Jacksonville family is one of thousands of people Builders Care has helped during its 10-year history. With the assistance of volunteer home builders and real estate agents, Builders Care has provided home and building improvements to help those who are less fortunate and cannot afford construction services.

“Kenny’s Story” details the hardworking welder who is suddenly diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. As the disease quickly progresses, Karen Goodall faces numerous challenges caring for Kenny and their six children in a small three-bedroom home. Builders Care comes in to assist and doubles the size of their home during an exciting and fast-paced two week blitz build.

The second part of the documentary highlights “Kollin’s story.” Three days after the family received their new home, the Goodall’s oldest son, Kollin, then 14, was tragically diagnosed with leukemia. The story follows Kollin’s struggles and experiences with leukemia.

The event begins at 5 p.m. General admission tickets are $10. VIP Premium tickets are available for $40. Click here to purchase tickets.
