June 15th, 2010 · Leave a Comment

It’s a meeting on the river this Friday, June 18, as the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce’s hosts its Downtown Council meeting on the St. Johns River.

Riverkeeper Neil Armingeon will take attendees on a one-hour appreciation tour of the St. Johns River where he will update them on several items, including actions the Legislature has taken to protect and possibly endanger the city’s water supply, a landmark federal court ruling on the lawsuit against JEA’s discharges into the St. Johns River, and whether or not the river will see the local return of the “Green Monster” this summer.

This Friday’s Downtown Council meeting will convene at the River Taxi docked at Friendship Park on the Southbank at 7:30 a.m. and will depart at 8 a.m. Breakfast is included on the taxi at $22 for non-members and $17 for members. Space is limited so early registration is encouraged. For more information about the event, to register and to prepay online, visit www.opportunityjacksonville.com.

We think this is a very cool way to host a morning meeting and we hope to see you there!
