Community First Credit Union and WJCT to host TEACH conference

Community First Credit Union, a state-chartered credit union serving the First Coast, will host the inaugural TEACH conference Sept. 15 at the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront.

TEACH is a professional development conference for teachers presented in conjunction with public broadcasting station WJCT. The event will include national speakers, breakout sessions, exhibitors, book signings, lunch, door prizes and much more. Tickets to the one-day conference will cost $25 are available online at wjct.org.

Lucy Calkins, author of the popular firsthand classroom materials Units of Study for Primary Writing and Units of Study for Teaching Writing, Grades 3–5, will be a featured speaker at the event. As Founding Director of the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project at Columbia University’s Teachers College, Calkins works closely with policy-makers, superintendents, district leaders and school principals to instigate and sustain school-wide and system-wide educational reforms. Additional guest speakers will be announced in coming months.

Community First Credit Union is a not-for-profit credit union in Jacksonville, Fla., serving those who live or work in Baker, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Nassau, Putnam, and St. Johns counties.
