Early Resident of The John Gorrie a condominium Relishes Growing Community

Two years ago, Jacksonville native Andrew Cartica needed a change of pace. Born and raised in Jacksonville and having lived on the Westside and Southside areas of the city, Cartica was tired of having to drive everywhere. He wished for a place he could simply stroll out his front door to walk his dogs and have a true neighborhood experience. He has found all this, and more, at The John Gorrie a condominium.

“I was specifically looking for a townhouse or a condominium, and The John Gorrie was actually the very first property that my Realtor showed me,” said Cartica. “I looked at many others after that, but nothing else compared in that same price point. Most of the places I saw needed a lot of updating, and The John Gorrie already had everything I wanted – new appliances, CaesarStone countertops and hardwood floors. I signed my contract before they even had the grand opening.”

Cartica was the first resident to buy a two-bedroom, two-bath unit at The John Gorrie. Some of the unique features that attracted him to the home were original wood beams on the soaring ceiling, concrete walls and very big open windows.

“My condo looks toward College Street. When you look out you see mainly oak trees, and you feel almost like you’re outside,” said Cartica. “I was also really sold on the convenience of the location. I have worked for Stein Mart for almost 14 years, and now I am five minutes from the office. I am also pretty spoiled in that I hardly want to go anywhere after hours that I can’t walk to. I sometimes even walk to the grocery store.”

He has watched The John Gorrie grow rapidly over the last couple of years from having just a handful of residents when he first moved in to welcoming a vibrant blend of all ages. Everyone knows everybody else, and the community now includes two babies, born after their parents moved into their new home.

The John Gorrie offers studios, one- and two-bedroom residences and two-story townhomes. All residences have been modernized and offer contemporary amenities such as stainless steel GE appliances, CaesarStone countertops, gourmet kitchens and pedestal bathroom sinks. Residents have access to a custom fitness center, elevators, private gated parking and a resident reading room with Wi-Fi internet access.
