Girl Scouts of Gateway Council (GSGC) proudly announces the appointment of Debbie Brainard as chief operating officer. Brainard recently joined GSGC after more than 20 years in the telecommunications industry.

“We conducted a search for someone who would further strengthen our organization and we are thrilled to have Debbie join our team,” said Girl Scouts of Gateway Council CEO Mary Anne Jacobs. “Her knowledge, leadership and success align perfectly with our organization’s strategic plan and long-term goals.”

Before joining GSGC, Brainard served as vice president of operations for Comcast, where she oversaw the installation, service, maintenance, contract labor, warehouse, check-in and connection centers. Prior to that, Debbie spent 10 years at Time Warner Cable in Texas as vice president of technical operations.

Brainard came to Girl Scouts to be part of the nonprofit organization’s movement of developing tomorrow’s leaders.

“I wanted to be part of an organization that makes a difference in the communities and in the lives of girls,” Brainard said. “Building future leaders is a passion, and I believe there is no better organization than the Girl Scouts to help mold the future leaders of the world.”

A self-described Army brat, Brainard lived in Germany for more than 20 years. She received her bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Central Texas and her master’s degree in management and leadership from Webster University.
