HabiJax Celebrates First Fully Furnished Model Home with Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony

October 4th, 2012 · Leave a Comment

Habitat for Humanity of Jacksonville (HabiJax) celebrated the opening of its first fully furnished model home with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Members of the HabiJax board of directors and staff from the New Town Success Zone, along with the HabiJax team and volunteers, were on-hand for the event. The model home, decorated and furnished by award-winning interior designer Judith Sisler Johnston of Sisler Johnston Interior Design, is a major milestone in HabiJax’s efforts to revitalize the growing neighborhood of New Town.

Featuring 1,100 square feet of flexible living space and priced from $97,000, the new model showcases three bedrooms, two bathrooms, laundry room, an eating area and large entertainment room. The home’s bedrooms highlight a Spiderman-themed child’s room, a master bedroom designed with tranquil floral prints and a home office, featuring the room’s diverse living space. The model’s open design allows for abundant family interaction and great entertaining with its free-flowing living area, dining room with seating for eight and kitchen area with center island.

New Town’s location provides easy access to Downtown Jacksonville, Southside, Mayport and the beaches. It is conveniently located near two public schools; Eugene Butler Middle School and SP Livingston Elementary School, as well as Edward Waters College, the oldest institution of higher education in Jacksonville. Success Park, a nearly 2-acre park and playground, is also located in the historical neighborhood of New Town, in addition to a number of shopping and dining opportunities with easy access to public transportation.
