Join Springfield Community for Welcome Back Eco Eve Brunch This Sunday

April 16th, 2010 · Leave a Comment

Going green and giving back will be the theme this Sunday when Breaking Ground Contracting donates Eco Eve, its decorated sea turtle from the Turtle Trails project, to the historic Springfield community.

Mary Tappouni, president of Breaking Ground Contracting, will present the turtle to the community on Sunday, April 18, at Three Layers A Coffeehouse during a fundraising brunch to benefit the Child Guidance Center, the organization responsible for the public art project. Eco Eve will then be on permanent display at Three Layers A Coffeehouse for the Springfield community to enjoy.

The brunch kicks off at 10 a.m. at Three Layers and the unveiling of Eco Eve will be at 10:30 a.m. Cost to attend the event is $10 at the door and $5 for children 10 and under. Brunch includes French toast, fruit and a mimosa or orange juice.

Eco Eve is the turtle that was sponsored by Breaking Ground Contracting during the Turtle Trails public art project and was purchased by Tappouni following the public auction of the turtles. The money used to purchase Eco Eve and that raised at the event will benefit the programs administered by the Child Guidance Center.

Eco Eve was designed by artist Joanelle Mulrain to reflect the environmental sensitivities of the sea turtle as well as the sustainable ideas represented by Breaking Ground Contracting. Eco Eve has a solar panel on her shell that symbolically lights a torch in her hand and, through art, relays information about eco-friendly products like no VOC paints. Eco Eve was stationed in front of Three Layers A Coffeehouse during the Turtle Trails project and will be returned to her home at the fundraising event.

For more information about the Child Guidance Center fundraising brunch, contact (904) 355-9791. More information is also available by calling Breaking Ground Contracting at (904) 388-1350.

We hope to see you there for this fun community event!
