Leadership Jacksonville’s “Jacksonville Legacy Series” Wins an Emmy Award

December 11th, 2013 · Leave a Comment

Leadership Jacksonville is pleased to announce its original television and Web series, The Jacksonville Legacy Series, Alton Yates Episode, has been awarded an Emmy in the category of best interview/discussion.

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, Suncoast Chapter, presented the awards in Hollywood, Fla. in late-November.  The award was accepted by Kent Lindsey of Lindsey Films, producer of the Jacksonville Legacy Series.  The Jacksonville Legacy Series has featured such prominent area leaders as Fran Kinne of Jacksonville University; Bob Shircliff of St. Vincent’s HealthCare and a variety of other nonprofit volunteer leadership positions; and the late Frederick Schultz, a founder of Jacksonville Community Council Inc. and Leadership Jacksonville, and the inspiration for the series.

“We are pleased to receive recognition from the academy for our series honoring some of Jacksonville’s greatest leaders,” said Jill Langford Dame, executive director for Leadership Jacksonville. “This award tells us we are succeeding in our efforts to shine light on people who have done so much to move Jacksonville forward and to let them tell the stories behind their work on behalf of our community.”

But this is not the first time the series has been honored.  Earlier this year, Leadership Jacksonville and Lindsey Films were awarded two Telly Awards for the series, one in the Educational Programming category and one for the Fran Kinne episode. The ongoing video series is broadcast on public television’s WJCT-TV in Jacksonville and full episodes as well as unedited scenes are posted on the station’s website, YouTube and Leadership Jacksonville’s website.

“Lindsey Films is honored to be a part of such an amazing series,” Kent Lindsey said.  “Leadership Jacksonville’s innovative and forward-thinking approach to preserving the life, leadership, and legacy of Jacksonville’s most dedicated citizens will ensure that their stories will be told, in their own words, for years to come. The Jacksonville Legacy Series is a gift from Leadership Jacksonville to the city of Jacksonville, and we are thrilled to be recognized by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, Suncoast Chapter for our work on this series.”
