Monique Burr Foundation for Children Founder Ed Burr addressed members of Professionals for Prevention.

The Monique Burr Foundation for Children, Inc. hosted an event for Professionals for Prevention, the foundation’s young professional group, with Founder Ed Burr on Sept. 13 at Roy’s Restaurant in Jacksonville Beach. The group of young professionals in attendance had the opportunity to learn about the history of the organization as well as its direction and goals for the future.

The Monique Burr Foundation was established in 1997 by Burr to honor the memory of his late wife, a passionate and tireless advocate for abused and abandoned children. The foundation aims to increase awareness of child safety and abuse issues including bullying and internet safety, to reduce the rate of child abuse and to provide child safety and abuse prevention education to all elementary age children within the state of Florida by 2015.

In addition to learning about the foundation, the young professionals also had the opportunity to network with Burr, who offered insights on professional development and tips and suggestions for becoming involved as a leader in the Jacksonville business community. Burr leads an extremely successful career in real estate development and serves on the board of a number of local charitable and community organizations. As an added benefit of Professionals for Prevention membership, Burr has promised to make himself available for members seeking professional advice and guidance.
