The Monique Burr Foundation for Children (MBF) is hosting the first annual REAL WORLD SAFETY Conference: Protecting Youth Online and Off, on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016, at the University of North Florida from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Parents, concerned citizens and professionals from all disciplines will learn from renowned experts about the safety challenges of today’s youth. Youth are welcome to attend with parents.

The conference will include three guest speakers:

  • Dr. Sameer Hinduja–Recognized internationally for his groundbreaking work on the subjects of cyberbullying and safe social networking, concerns that have paralleled the exponential growth in online communication by young people.
  • Richard Guerry–From the Institute for Responsible Online and Cell-Phone Communications (IROC2), a non-profit dedicated to teaching digital safety, responsibility and awareness.  He is also the author of multiple cyber safety and citizenship books, including Public and Permanent, which is used by students, parents and teachers as a guide to digital citizenship.
