The Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville has announced State of the Arts 2017 is scheduled for Aug. 30. This year the Cultural Council is providing a full day of programming in collaboration with the City of Jacksonville, Florida Division of Cultural Affairs and PNC Bank.
The format for SOTA has expanded from a luncheon to an all-day conference, in partnership with Division of Cultural Affairs. Secretary of State Ken Detzner will attend to kick off a full day of advocacy planning, workshops, panel discussions and community events.
The Cultural Council also announced the 2017 keynote speaker, Lily Yeh – also known as the Barefoot Artist. Yeh grew up in Taiwan and moved to the U.S. in 1963. Since the late 1960s, Yeh has served as a change agent, creating an international model for creative place-making and community building through the arts.
