Jeff Price, external affairs coordinator for JAXPORT, gives a tour of the facilities
The brisk winter weather didn’t keep a group of almost 20 of the Urban Land Institute’s Young Leaders Group members from enjoying a fascinating tour of JAXPORT last week. Jeff Price, external affairs coordinator for JAXPORT, led the bus tour, which took passengers to the Blount Island Marine Terminal and Dames Point Marine Terminal. This group of young leaders learned a great deal about JAXPORT, including these interesting facts:
- JAXPORT owns and manages three cargo terminals and one passenger cruise terminal
- JAXPORT also manages the St. Johns River Ferry, which connects the north and south ends of Florida State Road A1A in Duval County
- In 2009, JAXPORT’s three marine terminals handled a total of 7.3 million tons of cargo and more than 419,000 vehicles
- In 2009, more than 185,000 passengers sailed from the JAXPORT cruise terminal
JAXPORT is an important reason why Jacksonville is one of the Southeast’s premier logistics hubs! For information on how to set up your own group tour of JAXPORT, visit http://jaxport.com.
