June 23rd, 2010 · Leave a Comment

Urban Jacksonville Weekly, a local news and culture podcast, is celebrating its 70th episode by hosting a live show at the 5 Points Theatre. The show will be streamed live on the Internet and recorded in front of a studio audience on Thursday, June 24. There will be a reception at 5:30 p.m. and the show will begin at 6 p.m. The event is free and the public is invited to attend.

Hosts Joey Marchy, Tony Allegretti and guest co-host Melissa Ross of WJCT’s First Coast Connect will discuss an important new development in downtown Jacksonville, the new Laura Street Trio, with Ervin Lovett Miller architect Steve Lovett and local historian Wayne Wood.

The restoration project would target a block of Laura Street flanked by the 18-story Barnett Bank Building and the Laura Street Trio, the two-story Marble Bank Building, the 10-story Bisbee Building and the 11-story Florida Life Building. In addition, the developers would build an eight-story apartment building nearby.

The project would have about 120 hotel rooms and 137 apartments, plus a variety of restaurants and street-level stores. The Marble Bank Building would be tapped for upscale dining. The studio audience is invited to take part in the discussion.

There will also be a performance by local band After the Bomb Baby and a preview screening of the new documentary, Exit Through the Gift Shop.

We hope to see you there. You don’t want to miss this show!
