Jacksonville Suns vs. Montgomery Biscuits, Friday, May 30

It’s practically summer, so it might be time to visit our own “Boys of Summer“ – the Jacksonville Suns – at The Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville as they play the Montgomery Biscuits on Friday, May 30 at 7:05 p.m.

Former Atlanta Braves great Dale Murphy will be at the stadium to sign autographs and to meet fans. It’s also hurricane preparedness night at the park. After the game, there will be a fireworks display.

Tickets begin at less than $10. For information, visit the Suns online.

U2 Cover Band UV at Freebird Live, Saturday, May 31

What else is hot this weekend? How about checking out U2 cover band UV  performing songs like “Fire” on Saturday, May 31 at 8 p.m. at Freebird Live in Jacksonville Beach.

The group, which will appear with OuterEdge, has been doing shows since 2004 and has played before more than a quarter-million people.

Tickets are $10 to $15 and available on the Freebird Live website.

Chicago at Metropolitan Park, Saturday, May 31

Something else that’s pretty cool on Saturday, May 31 is a show at 8:15 p.m. at Metropolitan Park as legendary band Chicago joins the conductor of the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra for a show hosted by the symphony to kick off its “Starry Nights” series.

Chicago, formed in 1967, is a self-described “rock and roll band with horns,” and carried a steady stream of hits throughout the 1970s and 80s and is second only to The Beach Boys in Billboard singles and albums chart success.

The band was inducted this year into the Grammy Hall of Fame. And we all know how great our symphony is – so it ought to be a great show.

Visit the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra’s website for more information.

Miniature Marks, St. Augustine Art Assoc., Saturday, May 31

Finally, ready for something a little different? Visit the Miniature Marks show at the St. Augustine Art Association, 22 Marine Street in St. Augustine to view works of art no larger than 12 inches in size.

These small but powerful works are part of an open media, open subject, juried show that is open on Saturday, May 31 from noon to 4 p.m., and again on Sunday, June 1 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Admission is free to see artists explore a wide range of subjects and ideas using all sorts of materials in their individual pieces.

For more information, visit the St. Augustine Art Association online.
