Camellia at Deerwood Organizes School Supply Drive for MaliVai Washington Youth Foundation

Camellia at Deerwood, the premier senior lifestyle community located in Jacksonville’s Southside, is hosting a school supply drive for students attending the MaliVai Washington Youth Foundation’s afterschool program. The drive is underway and runs through Sept. 30.

The community, which is located at 10061 Sweetwater Parkway in Jacksonville, offers an active and independent lifestyle for adults 62 and older.

“Our residents like to make a positive difference in others’ lives, and this is a wonderful opportunity to support the students at the MaliVai Washington Youth Foundation,” said Camellia at Deerwood General Manager Perry Brown. “We encourage the community to join us in our efforts to collect supplies for the foundation’s program.”

The foundation’s list of requested school supplies includes:

  • copy paper (white and colored)
  • construction paper
  • pencils
  • folders (3 prong)
  • poster boards and science boards
  • college rule composition notebooks
  • pencil boxes and pouches
  • heavy duty electronic pencil sharpeners
  • Lysol and Clorox Wipes
  • Backpacks
  • large crayons for kinder students
  • calculators
  • math compasses
  • CD player with speakers (for educational curriculum)
  • red file folders
  • cornbread paper (writing paper for kinder students)
  • gorilla tape
  • glue sticks
  • round tip scissors
  • educational games
  • dry erase markers
  • sharpies
  • thumb drives
  • hand sanitizer
  • 33 gallon trash bags
  • large refill bottles of soap and graph paper
