Event Benefits Wolfson Children’s Hospital

Theo Epstein, President of Baseball Operations for the Chicago Cubs, recently discussed baseball and leadership during an appearance at the Florida Forum Speaker Series, produced by The Women’s Board of Wolfson Children’s Hospital.

More than 1,300 patrons attended the event, which was moderated by Tim Cost, President of Jacksonville University and Florida Forum Education Sponsor.

Named Fortune Magazine’s 2017 World’s Greatest Leader and one of Time Magazine’s 2017 100 Most Influential People, Epstein shied away from taking personal credit for the honors. He noted the importance of organizational engagement, with everyone supporting the organization’s vision and putting the organization’s needs first.

“Personal ambition is important but what’s best for the organization is more important,” Epstein told the audience.

He credits his team and their processes for the success of the Chicago Cubs.

“Baseball is best experienced as close you can be,” Epstein said. “Front row, behind home plate. But the business of baseball is best done at 10,000 feet.”

The 2017-2018 series continues on March 5, 2018 with Ambassador Caroline Kennedy, the only surviving child of President Kennedy. An author, attorney, and diplomat, Kennedy served as the U.S. Ambassador to Japan from 2013-17. She is an editor of nine New York Times best-selling books on constitutional law, American history, politics and poetry.

Tickets for the remaining Florida Forum Speaker Series are available for purchase. Tickets start at $75 each for general seating. Patrons under age 30 may purchase Young Subscriber tickets for $50 each.

Funds raised from The Florida Forum benefit Wolfson Children’s Hospital. The series is presented by Wells Fargo, Florida Blue and Landstar, and many valued supporters of The Women’s Board.  For more information and to purchase tickets, go to The Women’s Board website at https://womensboardwolfsonchildrenshospital.com.
