Florida’s 2025 Back-to-School Tax-Free Holiday Runs All August

August 7th, 2025 · Leave a Comment

Florida’s annual Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday is here all month long. Through August 31, 2025, Floridians can enjoy sales tax exemptions on a wide range of school-related items. The annual savings event, now permanently established by the Florida Legislature, is designed to ease the financial burden of back-to-school shopping and boost local retail across the state.

What’s Included in the 2025 Tax-Free Holiday?
Parents, guardians, college students, and teachers can all benefit from these tax-free categories:

School Supplies (like pens, pencils, binders, notebooks, folders, calculators) — $50 or less per item
Clothing and Footwear (including backpacks and accessories) — $100 or less per item
Learning Aids and Puzzles — $30 or less per item
Personal Computers & Accessories — $1,500 or less per item (for personal use only)

Consumers may shop in-store or online. However, note that theme parks, airports, entertainment complexes, and hotels are excluded from offering tax-free purchases during this holiday.

Pro Tips
Plan ahead: Back-to-school items can sell out fast — especially laptops and backpacks. Take advantage early in August.
Shop local: Support Florida-based retailers who rely on this holiday to boost sales during the summer slowdown.
Stack savings: Combine the tax holiday with store sales, coupons, and credit card cash-back offers for even bigger discounts.
