Amelia River Cruises to Offer Ferry Service During Shrimp Festival

Amelia River Cruises will be offering all-day ferry services from St. Marys, Ga., to Fernandina Beach, Fla., for the 49th Annual Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival on Saturday and Sunday, May 5-6. The ARC ferry will depart the downtown dock in St. Marys.

Festival-goers can park for free in St. Marys and enjoy a scenic ferry ride that arrives in the heart of the action at the downtown Fernandina Harbor Marina. Ferry tickets are $10 per person for adults 13 and over one way, $5 each way for children ($10 round-trip), payable in cash only on-board. No reservations are required.  Ferry service is first-come, first serve.

The first ferry boat will depart St. Marys at 9 a.m. with the final departure at 4 p.m. on Saturday.  The last Sunday ferry will depart St. Marys on Sunday at 3 p.m.  Boats will run every hour on the hour.

The Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival is an annual tradition, and was recently named a Top 20 event for the 10th consecutive year by the Southeast Tourism Society. The festival includes shrimp boats and great food, as well as a parade, a pirate invasion, music, entertainment, fine art, crafts and antiques.

Amelia River Cruises also offers daily narrated historic and wildlife sightseeing tours through the waters of Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia. Tours depart from Fernandina Harbor Marina in Historic Downtown Fernandina Beach and are available four times daily, March through August, and three times daily, September through February. Additional public tours include Eco/Shrimping Tours, traditional family sunset cruises and adult-oriented twilight cruises. Amelia River Cruises is also available for private charter excursions based on availability, offering a unique venue for events including weddings, birthday parties, receptions, company outings and fundraisers.
