Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Network Realty recently supported the 26.2 with Donna, the national marathon to finish breast cancer.

The Real REALTORS of Avondale, a five-member team of professionals from the company’s Avondale/San Marco office, participated in the Donna Team Marathon Relay, raising more than $600 for breast cancer research.

The marathon relay team included agents Susan Donnell, Elizabeth O’Steen, Josh Nugent, Shannon McKinnon and Kelly Morgan. Donnell is a breast cancer survivor. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2007 and her treatment included months of chemotherapy and radiation.

“Susan is so inspiring – she has remained positive and a strong advocate for finding a cure for this disease,” said Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Network Realty Founder, President and CEO Linda H. Sherrer. “All of us at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices would like to congratulate Donna Deegan on the tremendous success of the 26.2 with Donna. This event has raised vital funds for breast cancer research and care, and provided great hope and inspiration to so many.”

Nearly 8,000 runners participated in the 26.2 with Donna race weekend events. The 26.2 with Donna marathon, half marathon and marathon relay was created by three-time breast cancer survivor Donna Deegan. Proceeds from the event benefit The Donna Foundation, a nonprofit organization formed to raise money exclusively for those on the First Coast living with breast cancer, and to fund cutting-edge breast cancer research at Mayo Clinic.

“When one person is diagnosed with breast cancer, there are so many others who are also directly affected,” said Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Broker/Manager Sheron Willson. “It is heartwarming to see how this event has grown and what Donna Deegan has accomplished is absolutely amazing. We are so proud to support her dedicated efforts to end breast cancer.”

The Real REALTORS of Avondale team members also plan to participate in the Daily’s Ortega River Run on March 1. Proceeds from Daily’s Ortega River Run benefit the financial aid and scholarship program at St. Mark’s Episcopal Day School.
