Celebrate the Holidays at the 2010 Jacksonville Light Parade

November 26th, 2010 · Leave a Comment

Are you an avid boater or simply enjoy the beauty of all the lights at the holidays? Either way, come downtown Saturday, Nov. 27 at 7 p.m. to enjoy the 2010 Jacksonville Light Parade!

If you would like to participate in the parade, registration is free but limited to the first 100 vessels. The parade is open to sailboats and powerboats of all shapes and sizes but lights and decorations are a must! Boaters have the opportunity to enter their vessels in one of five categories: 30’ and Over (Private Individual), Under 30’ (Private Individual), Sailboat, Corporate/Commercial and Organized Club.

Here’s what Mayor John Peyton had to say about the event:

“I encourage every boater to register for the Jacksonville Light Parade to make this year the best yet. The St. Johns River sets the perfect stage for First Coast boaters to showcase their spirited watercraft in front of thousands of spectators. I can think of no better way to begin the holidays.”

In addition to preferred docking for the fireworks display and a post-event Captains’ Party following the parade, captains and crews have a chance to win prizes. Awards will be given for Grand Overall, Best New Entry, Private Individual 30’ (first and second place winners), Sailboat (first and second place winners), Corporate/Commercial, Organized Club and Holiday Spirit. To register or for more information, call (904) 630-3690 or visit www.MakeASceneDowntown.com.

The Jacksonville Light Parade is sure to be a great way to kick off the holiday season with family and friends!
