Community First Credit Union Wins Gold in Healthiest Companies Competition

Community First Credit Union, a state-chartered credit union serving the First Coast, received top honors among the healthiest companies in Northeast Florida. First Coast’s Healthiest Companies is an award given by the First Coast Worksite Wellness Council, whose mission is to improve the health of the First Coast community by sharing resources and providing guidance through its member businesses.

“Community First prides itself on a commitment to the community and to its employees,” said John Hirabayashi, president and CEO of Community First. “A large part of that is an emphasis on health and well-being. We are proud to be recognized as one of the area’s leaders in workplace wellness.”

Forty-six wellness leaders and their CEOs received the coveted gold-, silver- and bronze-level First Coast Healthiest Companies awards Wednesday May 16, 2012 at the UNF University Center. To be considered for the award, companies must present comprehensive programming and outcome data in the areas of:

• Organization Policies (staffing, wellness budget, medical coverage, senior management)
• Know Your Numbers
• Healthy Behavior (Stress, EAP, drug & alcohol policy, smoking cessation)
• Safety (vehicle policies, emergency policy, safety training programs, safety metrics used)
• Physical Activity Programming
• Nutrition/Weight Management Programming
• Prevention Programming
