Cornerstone Hosts Jacksonville Jaguar Kick-off Luncheon

September 9th, 2010 · Leave a Comment

The Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce held the Jacksonville Jaguar football kickoff Cornerstone Luncheon featuring Wayne & Deloris Barr Weaver and the entire Jacksonville Jaguar team and coaching staff Tuesday at the Prime F. Osborn Convention Center.  Players and coaches were seated throughout the luncheon as special table guests.  More than 1,700 guests were excited to get to their seats to find out which special Jaguar guest would be joining them for lunch.

As the program began, the Chamber asked guests to spread the word and “Vote No” on Amendment 4.  Passing this Amendment would stop growth in Florida.

Cornerstone’s initiatives were also shared with the crowd:

  • Retain and help companies grow in Northeast Florida
  • Attract new businesses to Northeast Florida
  • Help shape public policy that effects economic development in Northeast Florida
  • Improve education
  • Support the Jaguars

The Chamber also announced PNC Mortgage has selected Jacksonville as its newest location for operations.  PNC Mortgage is one of the top 10 mortgage companies in the U.S. and its parent company, PNC Financial Group is the sixth largest bank in the nation. PNC Mortgage will be located on the Southside and is excited to bring 200 entry- and mid-level mortgage jobs to Jacksonville in the fourth quarter of this year.

The Jaguars had exciting news to announce as well:

  • 14,000 new season tickets were sold during the pre-season, which was the largest pre-season tickets sold in the NFL
  • The Jacksonville Jaguar season opener against the Denver Broncos will not be a blackout
  • The Jacksonville Jaguar Foundation has donated more than $13 million dollars to local non-profit organizations

Now that’s something to cheer about…go Jaguars!!
