THE PLAYERS Championship and Capitol Records Nashville announced today that country music sensation, avid golfer and philanthropist Darius Rucker will help the tournament honor area military with a special musical appearance on Wednesday, May 11, during Military Appreciation Day at THE PLAYERS Championship.  As is the case for the entire tournament week, all active duty, Reserve and retired military personnel and their dependents are admitted free for Military Appreciation Day, as are children under the age of 18 with a ticketed adult.  For the general public, Wednesday Practice Round tickets are only $20 for the entire day.

Rucker will be a part of a 5:30 p.m. ceremony during Military Appreciation Day to salute America’s heroes.  The program on the TPC Sawgrass Clubhouse Lawn will include pageantry by military personnel, the National Anthem performed by the 82nd Airborne All-American Chorus from Ft. Bragg and a flyover, as well as remarks from PGA TOUR Commissioner Tim Finchem and a PGA TOUR player.  Rucker will close the program with a special musical performance dedicated to the military and their families.

THE PLAYERS is scheduled for May 9-15, 2011, at THE PLAYERS Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. Tickets to THE PLAYERS Championship 2011 are on sale at First Coast Publix Super Market locations, at TPC Sawgrass, online at www.PGATOUR.COM/theplayers and via telephone by calling Ticketmaster at (888) 401-8000.
