Doubles Tennis Tournament to Help Children Realize Their Dreams

October 25th, 2018 · Leave a Comment

The first Doubles for Dreams Tennis Tournament to benefit the Dreams Come True organization is being held at the Julington Creek Tennis Center starting Nov. 30, 2018. Adult tennis players of all skill levels are invited to find a partner and sign up for this special event to help raise money for children who are battling life-threatening illnesses.

According to Julio Caballero, Chairman of the Doubles for Dreams, the weekend is an opportunity for tennis players in the Greater Jacksonville area to compete in a professionally managed tournament while helping a great cause.

“This doubles event will have three team divisions for both men and women,” says Caballero. “Every participant will have an opportunity to play at least 2 matches with the chance of advancing to the semi-final and final match rounds.”

Divisions include 3 levels of men’s and women’s brackets including 6.0, 7.0 and 8.0 levels. The tennis tournament operations are being managed by Scott Miller, Director of Tennis for 904 Tennis. Participants can register directly online at www.DoublesForDreams.com

Caballero says the Doubles for Dreams Tournament will also feature a silent auction, raffle prizes and trophies for finalists and event winners. “We are excited to host this event and to help such a great organization like Dreams Come True,” says Caballero.

“We are excited to be supported by the inaugural Doubles for Dreams Tennis Tournament,” stated Andrea Siracusa, Director of Community Relations for Dreams Come True. “Our ability to grant dreams for local children battling life-threatening illnesses is possible because of our community partners. We look forward to applying 100 percent of the donations received directly toward at least one child’s dream trip.”

Dreams Come True is the First Coast’s only locally-based, wish granting organization dedicated to using the power of a dream to bring hope and joy to every First Coast child battling a life-threatening illness. Since 1984, Dreams Come True has fulfilled the dreams of more than 3,900 children. No child is ever denied a dream and no child is ever placed on a waiting list.
