Duval County Public Schools, in partnership with the Jacksonville Public Education Fund (JPEF), has launched a new initiative, “Discover Duval Schools,” which provides citizens with an opportunity to make their own discoveries about schools.
Parents and other community members get a chance to take a closer look at the successes and challenges of Duval County public schools by seeing schools and classrooms, visiting with teachers and hearing about programs across the city.
The next scheduled Discover Duval Schools tour will be at Darnell-Cookman Middle/High School of the Medical Arts on Jan. 23, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Participants will have an opportunity to learn more about its medical magnet program and discuss school choice and magnet options.
Citizens will meet at the district’s central administration building to board a school bus for the trip and during a 90-minute session visit the campus, talk with students and faculty members and learn about unique and innovative programs of the school.
