First Coast YMCA to Provide Assistance to Federal Employees

January 26th, 2019 · Leave a Comment

The First Coast YMCA strengthens the community in Northeast Florida by providing assistance to federal employees affected by the government shutdown. The First Coast Y connects its neighbors to the resources they need to live healthier, regardless of their ability to pay.

Because of the generosity of others, the Y is able to provide financial assistance to those in need. The First Coast YMCA invites any federal worker affected by the government shutdown to stop by any Y location to learn more about how the life-changing programs and support offered by the branches every day. Federal employees should bring their government ID with them to the Y and will be asked to fill out a guest waiver.

“At the Y, our foundation is set on supporting our communities and that means being there for our neighbors in the good times and in the uncertain times,” said Eric K. Mann, president and CEO of the First Coast YMCA. “Our Y branches are open to any federal employee impacted by the shutdown and we hope they serve as a positive space to grab a cup of coffee, workout or talk to others in the community. There is a place for you at the Y.”

In 2018, the Y provided more than $2.1M in financial assistance for nearly 26,000 people on the First Coast. This support provided adults, children and families with access to healthy living programs, summer camp, swim lessons, hunger relief and more.
