Leadership Jacksonville announces the first airing of a video from its Jacksonville Legacy Series, an ongoing video series showcasing some of the region’s most prominent leaders who positively impact the First Coast community. The video, which will air on WJCT at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15, features Jacksonville University Chancellor Emeritus Dr. Frances Bartlett Kinne, the first woman to serve as a university president in Florida. A special screening of the film was held at the Schultz Center for Teaching and Leadership on Nov. 1, which was proclaimed as Dr. Frances Bartlett Kinne Day in Jacksonville by Mayor Alvin Brown.

Produced by Lindsey Films, the video offers a unique and personal glimpse into Kinne’s personal and professional life. Kinne is known for her warmth, sharp mind, sense of humor and wealth of international friendships. She began her career at Jacksonville University as an assistant professor of humanities in 1959. In 1994, Kinne was named Chancellor Emeritus. She holds five honorary doctorates along with a bachelor and master’s degrees in music education from Drake University in Iowa. Recognized as a role model for female leaders, Kinne was the first woman to be elected president of the International Council of Fine Arts and was the first woman president of the Jacksonville Downtown Rotary Club.

Leadership Jacksonville is currently seeking funding and support for the Jacksonville Legacy Series, which is currently supported through fundraising initiatives led by Leadership Jacksonville. With additional funding, Leadership Jacksonville hopes to continue the series to include several videos a year and showcase them throughout the community, including broadcasts on WJCT, on its website, and on the Schultz Center for Teaching and Leadership website.
