Florida’s tax-free weekend starts Aug. 2

July 29th, 2019 · Leave a Comment

Florida’s tax holiday begins on Aug. 2. This year’s tax exemption period will last five days, with the last day to shop tax-free ending Aug. 6.

Shoppers will be able to buy the bulk of what their children need for school without having to pay sales tax. The Florida Retail Federation estimates Floridians will save a combined $36 million from the tax break and spend an average of $600 on back-to-school items.

In addition to giving families five days of back-to-school shopping instead of the usual three, technology items are once again eligible for tax relief this year.

During those five days, there will be no tax on electronics of up to $1000; clothing, shoes and backpacks costing $60 or less and school supplies $15 or less.
