Fun for the Whole Family at THE PLAYERS

March 26th, 2013 · Leave a Comment

THE PLAYERS Championship is known around the world as one of the most unforgettable tournaments with golf’s hottest players, but Northeast Florida residents also know the annual event serves as a weeklong gathering with some of the best, most affordable family entertainment options. This year, THE PLAYERS returns to THE PLAYERS Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass, May 6-12, with a variety of activities for the whole family to enjoy. Best of all, unlimited youth 18 and younger are admitted free of charge to the tournament grounds when accompanied by a ticketed adult.

THE PLAYERS Family Plan package offers additional savings just for families. For just $89, the package includes 2 adult grounds tickets, unlimited youth tickets and a $20 concessions credit, a savings of $40. New in 2013, THE PLAYERS “Four for Free” policy allows 4 or more in a vehicle to park free of charge.

There is plenty to keep youth of all ages entertained at the tournament. Located at the end of the Nicklaus Gate walkway, the McKenzie Noelle Wilson Kid Zone features a putt-putt course, face painting and interactive games. Adults enjoy chilling out at the adult concession areas while watching the television broadcast of the tournament.

Families can experience the best of Stadium golf at the Stadium Village and PwC’s First Tee Challenge – a scaled version of the famous 17th hole where kids and adults alike can take on the challenge of reaching the green. The area also includes video games from EA Sports, concessions, merchandise and outdoor seating for a little R&R.

And once again in honor of Mother’s Day, which falls on the final round of THE PLAYERS (Sunday, May 12), the event will stage a “Pink Out” on Championship Sunday in celebration of mothers and in support of breast cancer research. For Sunday’s “Pink Out,” players, caddies, sponsors, volunteers and fans are encouraged to wear pink to in support of The 26.2 with Donna Foundation, a local charitable organization that raises funds for ground-breaking breast cancer research at Mayo Clinic and women living with breast cancer. THE PLAYERS will also carry the “Pink Out” theme throughout the course with pink flowers included in the landscape, a “Pink Out”-themed Mother’s Day pin for mothers in attendance and several additional touches.

Of course, no trip to THE PLAYERS would be complete – especially for the kids – without collecting a few autographs. Be sure to hang out in one of the “autograph alleys” – near the Clubhouse, Practice Areas and the Scoring Area – for the best shot at snagging a prized signature from some of golf’s greatest players.
