Habitat for Humanity of Jacksonville (HabiJax) is combining forces with local faith coalitions and dedicating two weekends to helping Jacksonville homeowners restore the exterior of their homes. The event will take place on March 8-9 and March 15-16, and the event is open to all volunteers who are interested in donating a helping hand.
This program, called A Brush with Kindness, is offered to non-HabiJax homeowners who may be struggling to maintain the exterior of their homes. Years of deferred maintenance can cause a downward spiral of home deterioration and unsafe living conditions. HabiJax’s goal is to help homeowners keep their homes safe and well maintained.
The Brush with Kindness program will help homeowners by focusing on exterior repairs on their home, including:
- Window repair
- Exterior painting of the home and fence
- Minor siding and trim repair
- Landscaping (pruning/trimming, weeding, reseeding or new sodding)
- Clean up, brush removal, junk removal
- Board replacement in porch/stair/ramp
HabiJax has provided homeownership to more than 1,850 families since 1988. Combined with its other homeownership services, including Critical Home Repair, A Brush with Kindness, Weatherization, Rehabilitation and Housing Counseling, HabiJax has served over 7,500 families.
More information about HabiJax and how you can volunteer is available online at www.habijax.org/volunteer or by calling (904) 798-4529.
