Burlap tablecloths and bright-flowered centerpieces were incorporated into Habitat for Humanity of Jacksonville (HabiJax) HabiJax, “Home Sweet Home” –themed gala at the Jacksonville Public Library Courtyard. More than 160 people, including donors, volunteers and homeowners, gathered to celebrate 25 years of turning the dream of homeownership into a reality for more 1,850 families. Habijax, one of the most successful Habitat for Humanity affiliates in the United States, raised more than $25,000 which will all go back into building houses for more Jacksonville families.

“We were overwhelmed at all who chose to spend the evening celebrating with us,” said HabiJax President and CEO Mary Kay O’Rourke. “We want to extend a special thank you to our donors, volunteers and community as a whole for allowing us to make a difference in the lives of so many. Without their support, we would not be where we are today.”

The evening included catered cuisine from D’Vine Cuisine, entertainment by Grandpa’s Cough Medicine and special guest speaker, Jonathan Reckford, CEO of Habitat for Humanity International.

HabiJax has provided homeownership to more than 1,850 families since 1988. Combined with its other homeownership services, including Critical Home Repair, A Brush with Kindness, Weatherization, Rehabilitation and Housing Counseling, HabiJax has served over 7,500 families.
