In only six days, the 2014 Jacksonville Home Builders Blitz – the largest of its kind in the United States – helped to bring positive change to the lives of 50 families in the historic neighborhood of New Town.

With the support of more than 1,500 volunteers and 30 private homebuilders and subcontractors, Habitat for Humanity of Jacksonville, Inc. (HabiJax), the Northeast Florida Builders Association (NEFBA) and NEFBA’s charitable arm, Builders Care, completed 25 newly constructed homes and provided extensive home renovations for 25 existing homes in New Town.

“This year’s event was more than I could have ever hoped for,” said HabiJax President and CEO Mary Kay O’Rourke.

Members of the community joined volunteers, builders and homeowners to celebrate the completion of the 2014 Home Builders Blitz with a ceremonial dedication of the homes.

“We are so grateful for the support that the industry and the community has demonstrated to us during the Blitz,” said NEFBA Executive Director Corey Deal.

More than 30 builders, subcontractors and industry representatives donated their time and services to the weeklong event. Representatives included A Crown Roofing, BeeTree Homes, Bourré Construction Group, Clay Builders Council, Construction Services of North Florida, Corner Lot, ICI Homes, KB Homes, Layfield & Sircy Inc., Landon Homes, LandSouth Construction, Morales Construction, NEFBA Sales and Marketing Council, New Leaf Construction, Noble Construction, Pendleton Construction, Providence Homes, Richmond American Homes, Rotary Club of South Jacksonville, St. John Builders Council, Toll Brothers and UNF Construction Management.

“We truly appreciate the overwhelming support of the community,” said Builders Care Executive Director Matt Wilford. “This event would not have been possible without them.”
