HUNGER FIGHT Awarded Grant to Fight Childhood Hunger From The Jim Moran Foundation

May 4th, 2020 · Leave a Comment

HUNGER FIGHT, Inc. is continuing its partnership with The Jim Moran Foundation to feed hungry children during the weekend.

Hunger Fight’s Feed the Backpack program provides a 4-serving meal pack each week for children who are fed at school during the week but may face an entire weekend with little food.

Thanks to The Jim Moran Foundation, Hunger Fight received its second year distribution of $122,408 to provide three 4-serving meal packs; a breakfast, a lunch and a dinner, to 1177 at-risk children every weekend for one year. In addition, The Foundation also awarded Hunger Fight a matching Challenge Grant which matched $30,000 in donations.

The impact of these grants and the food they provide is significant. Hunger Fight will continue meeting the weekend nutrition needs of children in our Feed the Backpack program. Hunger Fight will also continue to respond to the needs of our community through the distribution of our meal packs to food pantries, food banks, community and other hunger programs that are serving those who are struggling to put food on the table during the Covid-19 pandemic.
