If you haven’t been to the Downtown Historic Church Tour, it is a must-see outing. Now in its fourth year, the Downtown Historic Church Tour takes guests on an intriguing and educational visit around 10 downtown historic churches and highlights the architectural and historical significance of each building.

This year’s tour is set for Dec. 4 – one day only – from 1 to 5 p.m. Tour tickets are $5 per person and can be purchased at www.downtownjacksonville.org or at the Main Library downtown the day of the event (but bring your green – it’s cash only!). Children 12 and under are admitted at no charge. The tour begins and ends at the Main Library and visitors can walk or use the complimentary trolley service provided along the tour route. Twenty percent of all ticket sales will benefit the Emergency Services and Homeless Coalition.

Historic churches on the tour include:

  • Bethel Baptist Institutional Church
  • Faith United Church of the Living God, Inc. Greater Hill Temple
  • First Baptist Church
  • First Presbyterian Church
  • First United Methodist Church
  • Historic Mt. Zion AME Church
  • Historic Snyder Memorial
  • Immaculate Conception Catholic Church
  • St. John’s Episcopal Cathedral
  • St. Philip’s Episcopal Church

More information about the 4th Annual Downtown Historic Church Tour is available at www.downtownjacksonville.org or by calling (904) 451-3344. The event is hosted by Downtown Vision, Inc., a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to build and maintain a healthy and vibrant downtown community and promote downtown as an exciting place to live, work, play and visit.

Break out your best walking shoes and enjoy a wonderful tour of our city’s historic churches Saturday, Dec. 4. We hope to see you there!
