Jacksonville – Second Cheapest Rent, Second Largest Rent Increase

April 23rd, 2019 · Leave a Comment

RENTCafe just released their monthly rent report with data compiled from actual rents charged in the 250 largest US cities. The early beginning of the rental season saw rent prices increase by 3.2% over the year — the lowest annual growth in more than 6 months. Compared to last year’s figure, the March average national rent of $1,430/month is $44 higher.

Here are the main highlights for Jacksonville:

  • Compared to March last year, average rents in Jacksonville grew by $64 (6.3%) to $1,074. Of all the large US cities, it was the third sharpest increase in apartment rent prices.
  • One surprising fact about Jacksonville is that it has the second cheapest average rent in Florida, but at the same time it had the second largest percentage-wise increase compared to last year’s rents.
  • Lakeland has slightly cheaper rents than Jax, $1,060, while Gainesville had a higher rent spike since last year, 6.4%.
