ImpactJAX, a program of the JAX Chamber and Jacksonville’s premier young professionals group, is evolving to cultivate and sustain a vibrant community of future leaders with the rebrand and launching of NextUp JAX. Set to launch this month, NextUp JAX is composed of three initiatives designed to activate different areas of professional development and encourage engagement among young leaders.

  • AccessJAX initiative is a 10-week experiential leadership curriculum from March to May that will allow participants the chance to experience Jacksonville through behind-the-scenes tours, programming with arts organizations and ongoing engagement with local executives and civic leaders.
  • InfluenceJAX initiative will allow emerging executives the opportunity to connect with area influencers and embark on research-based trips. This 12-week leadership think tank, from September through November, is fueled by the goal of developing “Community Challenge” capstone projects designed to propel the community forward.
  • InnovateJAX initiative, coming in 2023, will equip young innovators and entrepreneurs with the opportunity to identify trends, touchpoints and gaps within the entrepreneurial ecosystem. This initiative will partner with the Venture Services team of JAXUSA.

The JAX Chamber launched ImpactJAX in 2006 to attract and retain talent in Northeast Florida. ImpactJAX evolved to have several different focuses, including Public Policy, Professional Development and Service and Giving.

The Hightower Emerging Leaders Fellowship, an ImpactJAX initiative established in 2017, furthers the goal of empowering the next generation by offering intimate, roundtable discussions between emerging leaders and Jacksonville’s current leaders. The Hightower Fellowship will continue as an initiative of NextUp JAX.

NextUp JAX will offer targeted young professional development, engagement and community involvement, effectively paving the way for future Jacksonville leaders. The strategic and intentional networking opportunities will foster a strong community between young professionals and bridge the gap between emerging and current leaders. In addition to new programming, NextUp JAX will also introduce four new awards recognition programs and two signature events, including the ImpactJAX Hall of Fame Awards and the Jacksonville Volunteer Expo.

“We all know that attracting and retaining top talent is critical for economic development and the chances of keeping young professionals in your city increase exponentially if they are involved in the community,” JAX Chamber President and CEO Daniel Davis said. “ImpactJAX has provided an incredible foundation for more than 15 years, and we believe the opportunities in NextUp JAX will strengthen our young professionals and our community.”
