JAXBIZ Preparing to Interview Jacksonville’s Spring Election Candidates

December 15th, 2010 · Leave a Comment

Jacksonville’s spring elections, where voters will choose a new mayor and numerous new City Council members, are more than three months away. Members of the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce and its nonpartisan political organization, JAXBIZ, are working to keep the community politically energized and engaged as the elections near.

JAXBIZ, the Chamber’s political action committee, will endorse and support the candidates it believes are the most business friendly and support the Chamber’s mission to drive economic growth in the Northeast Florida region. The organization’s members are currently meeting to plan the candidates interview process.

JAXBIZ members volunteer their time to interview and evaluate political candidates and key public policy issues. JAXBIZ will work with Chamber members throughout the city to engage, seek input and concerns to incorporate into the candidate interviews and disseminate information.

Chamber members will also take part in the interviewing process. Chris Quinn, the Chamber’s vice president of public policy, said the Chamber encourages member input and involvement in the election process.

“Political issues can change the local landscape and our members want to be informed and part of the process. The Chamber is here to serve its members and the Jacksonville community and one of the ways we serve is through our political action committee, JAXBIZ.”

Jacksonville’s primary election is scheduled for March 22 with the general election on May 17. More information about JAXBIZ is available at www.opportunityjacksonville.com.
