Jewish Family & Community Services (JFCS), a full-service social service agency serving both the Jewish and non-Jewish communities, announces a fundraiser night hosted by the Jacksonville Beach community theater Players by the Sea.

On Thursday, Nov. 21, all box office proceeds for the 7:30 p.m. production of “The Whipping Man” will be donated to JFCS. General admission tickets are $35, which includes a reception before the performance. Tickets can be purchased through the JFCS website.

“We are very honored to be partnering with Players by the Sea to hold this fundraiser at their wonderful community theater, and we are enormously grateful for their support of JFCS, “said JFCS Executive Director Colleen Rodriguez. “We would encourage everyone to purchase tickets now, as there are only 150 seats available for this event.”

“The Whipping Man” is the story of a Jewish Confederate soldier who returns to his childhood home following the Civil War, only to find it in ruins and occupied by his former slaves. The captivating story weaves past secrets with connected history and shared faith, culminating in a shocking climax.

Players by the Sea was founded in 1966. In its 47-year history, the artist-driven community theater has never lost the spirit in which it was founded – to create satisfying theater experiences to share with audiences. For more information on Players by the Sea, visit www.playersbythesea.org.

JFCS was founded in 1917 and provides a wide variety of programs and services to children, families and seniors. The agency is committed to “helping people help themselves,” and it serves people from all walks of life.
