February 12th, 2013 · Leave a Comment

Leadership Jacksonville is accepting applications through March 22 for its 2013 Collegiate Leadership Experience Program, an elite summer program for approximately 36 college students.

The program is designed for students attending college in Northeast Florida, or who have their permanent address in Northeast Florida and are attending college outside of the region. Students should be between 18 and 28 years old, a rising sophomore, junior, senior or graduate student, and have been enrolled in college for at least two semesters by June.

The Collegiate Leadership Experience program takes place annually in June and July, and its focus is on what it means to be a community trustee. Program goals include:

  • To become a responsible, ethical leader committed to active community involvement and trusteeship.
  • To encourage the leader within each of the participants and inspire them to begin making a difference now.
  • To encourage participants to live and work in Northeast Florida after graduation and serve as a community trustee.
  • To gain a greater understanding of contemporary issues through interaction and problem solving with peers, leaders and decision makers from all segments of the community.
  • To broaden participants’ perspective and understanding of Northeast Florida’s assets and potential. Stimulate interest and encourage a team approach in resolving community problems.

“The Collegiate Leadership Experience has been very well received by its participants, and it is exciting to be able to inspire and encourage the future leaders of this region,” said Isabelle Owen Spence, executive director of Leadership Jacksonville.
