Leadership Jacksonville announces Robert T. Shircliff, prominent Jacksonville civic leader and businessman, will be the feature of the next video in its Jacksonville Legacy Series, an ongoing initiative showcasing some of the region’s most prominent leaders who positively impact the First Coast community. The video will first air on WJCT at 8 p.m. on Oct. 3.

Produced by Lindsey Films, the fourth installment of the video series spotlights Shircliff’s legacy as a loyal supporter of numerous civic organizations. Shircliff has held the position of chairman or president of such local organizations as St. Vincent’s Health System, St. Vincent’s Foundation, Community Foundation for Northeast Florida, I.M. Sulzbacher Homeless Center, Catholic Foundation of the Diocese of St. Augustine, JAX Chamber, American Red Cross and the Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens.

In 1974, seven years after moving to Jacksonville, Shircliff received the “Top Management Award” from the Sales and Marketing Executives of Jacksonville. He served as chairman of the JAX Chamber from 1976-1977, and was honored by the Chamber as the “Distinguished Citizen of the Year” in 1983. In 1993 Shircliff was named “Man of Vision Award by Prevent Blindness, Inc. and “Philanthropist of the Year” by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP).

In April 1999, AFP named him “National Volunteer Fund Raiser of the Year.” Leadership Jacksonville recognized him in 2000 with the “Community Trustee Award.”  In 2001, he received “Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice Cross” from His Holiness, John Paul II. In 2002, he was awarded an honorary degree from Jacksonville University. In 2007, he received the “Servant Leader Award” from Volunteer Jacksonville.
