Mary Tappouni, president, Breaking Ground Contracting Company, a commercial general contractor headquartered in Jacksonville, Fla., was recently named chair of the board of directors of ABC of Florida.

ABC of Florida is the statewide body of Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) that represents the commercial construction industry in Tallahassee to advance policies that benefit the industry.

“The statewide organization’s focus is on legislative matters that impact the commercial construction industry. Mary brings the ideal skill set to the job. She’s a General Contractor and business owner, and she’s a community leader with plenty of political savvy and experience. ABC of Florida is in good hands this year,” said Karin Tucker Hoffman, president/CEO of ABC Florida First Coast Chapter.

This year as chair, Tappouni will lead the organization to reach policy goals in support of the commercial construction industry. ABC chapters throughout Florida protect businesses in legislative and regulatory areas, provide workforce development, apprenticeship, management and safety training, and enhance networking opportunities for its members.

“Mary is acutely aware of the importance of engaging in the legislative and political processes on behalf of the commercial construction industry.
