Monique Burr Foundation for Children Announces MBF Champions for Child Safety Pro Am Golf Tournament

October 2nd, 2020 · Leave a Comment

The Monique Burr Foundation for Children, Inc. (MBF) proudly announces the annual MBF Champions for Child Safety Pro Am Golf Tournament presented by Lennar. The tournament is Tuesday, Dec. 8, at The Palencia Club in St. Augustine. The tournament’s Pairings Party is Monday, Dec. 7, at 6 p.m.

“We are thrilled that Pro golfers Fred Funk, Jim Furyk, and Mark McCumber have agreed to serve as Honorary Chairmen once again for this year’s tournament,” said Lynn Layton, MBF President and CEO. “This signature golf tournament and pairings party helps support our efforts to keep children safe from bullying and abuse by raising both funds and awareness. Please help us continue to educate and protect children by participating in our Champions for Child Safety Pro Am Golf Tournament as a player, donor or sponsor. Due to Covid and quarantines, we know that many children were trapped at home with their abusers. As they return to school, the availability of our programs will be even more important as they will need the education provided by MBF to disclose and receive help from their Safe Adults.”

For this year’s tournament, MBF plans to take additional precautions for the health and safety of participants. The tournament will provide a safe environment with social distancing and golfers will be asked to follow CDC guidelines. As a result of COVID restrictions, all Pro golfers have not been confirmed at this time.

Tournament proceeds support MBF Prevention Education Programs, a series of comprehensive, evidence-based/evidence-informed prevention programs that educate and empower children and teens with strategies to prevent, recognize and respond appropriately to bullying, cyberbullying, online dangers, child abuse, exploitation, and child trafficking.

To date, MBF has trained more than 5,000 facilitators who have delivered MBF Child Safety Matters® and MBF Teen Safety Matters® lessons to more than 4.5 million students within 26 states, Washington D.C., and three countries. In the 2020-21 school year, MBF will reach even more students with the expansion of new programs, MBF Athlete Safety Matters® and MBF After-School Safety Matters™.

Double Eagle Team packages are $7,000 or an Eagle Team with two players may register for $3,500. Sponsorship opportunities ranging from $1,000 to $50,000, are available.
