More than $122,000 was raised during the Monique Burr Foundation for Children, Inc.’s 22^nd Annual El Pescado Billfish Tournament and Fish-N-Chips Marina Casino event at Camachee Cove in St. Augustine, Fla. During the event, a tournament record 194 sailfish were released, resulting in more than $100,000 awarded in prize money. Proceeds from the event contribute to the foundation’s continuing mission to educate Florida’s teachers, students and their parents on safety from all forms of child abuse, bullying and neglect.

The crew of Ohana took 1st Place Overall Team at the 22nd Annual El Pescado Billfish Tournament with 24 releases

The two-day El Pescado tournament was held at Camachee Cove at the Marlin Club in St. Augustine, Fla. The Ohana, a 66-foot Spencer Yacht owned by Ed Burr, founder of the Monique Burr Foundation for Children, won 1^st Place Overall Team with a total purse of more than $40,000. Floridian, owned by Matthew Cain, took 2^nd Place Overall Team, and Grand Slam, a 54-foot Spencer Yacht owned by Wallis Higginbotham, won 3^rd Place Overall Team. After receiving its trophy, first place team, Ohana, donated its winnings back to the foundation.

Additional awards included the Top Angler, which went to Cody Moore of the Lor-A-Di, and Top Junior Angler, which was awarded to Garrison Burr of Ohana. This year’s event also featured a new Outboard division, where Four Reel, a 36-foot Yellowfin Yacht owned by Curtis Engler, won Top Overall Team. Peterbrooke, a 34-foot Yellowfin Yacht with angler Hunter Brant, took 2^nd Place Overall Team in the Outboard Division, and Fishin’ Cove, owned by Danny Perna, won 3^rd Place Overall Team.

In conjunction with the 22^nd Annual El Pescado Billfish Tournament, the Monique Burr Foundation hosted the second annual Fish-N-Chips Marina Casino event, which drew approximately 300 attendees and included casino-style games as well as the unique “Ladies Tackle Box” featuring shopping opportunities with local artists who support the Monique Burr Foundation for Children, Inc.
