Monique Burr Foundation Launches #KindVibes Initiative, Website for National Bullying Prevention Month

October 29th, 2017 · Leave a Comment

Parents, teachers and students now have a one-stop online resource to use during National Bullying Prevention Month, thanks to a new website and initiative launched this week by the Monique Burr Foundation for Children, Inc. The #KindVibes website, http://KindVibes.org, and campaign encourages students, parents, and teachers to learn how to recognize bullying and deal with it in positive, constructive ways. Students are encouraged to counter bullying by doing acts of kindness throughout October. They can then share their activities by using the hashtag on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

“Kindness starts with each of us; and our teachers, students, and families can be powerful voices in sharing that message this month,” said Lynn Layton, Executive Director of the non-profit Monique Burr Foundation, which offers research-based, comprehensive prevention education programs for schools. “Research shows that bystander intervention can help stop bullying. With #KindVibes, we can make our intolerance of bullying evident through positive acts in schools and communities throughout Florida and beyond.”

Supported by the Florida Legislature, The Foundation’s MBF Child Safety Matters™ and MBF Teen Safety Matters™ programs are delivered year-round to schools across Florida, and select communities across the country, and are designed to educate and empower students and adults with information and strategies to prevent bullying and all types of child abuse and exploitation.

“#KindVibes is the perfect vessel for carrying out the mission of this Foundation,” said Edward E. Burr, who established the Monique Burr Foundation to honor his late wife’s legacy. “Monique would have loved seeing students spreading kindness to each other in ways big and small.”
