Mother’s Day / PINK OUT at THE PLAYERS

April 11th, 2013 · Leave a Comment

THE PLAYERS Championship is a great – and affordable – place to celebrate Mother’s Day, with activities the whole family will enjoy. Take advantage of The Family Plan and enjoy watching the final round of THE PLAYERS along with special Mother’s Day activities.

The Family Plan package offers two adult grounds tickets, unlimited youth admission at the gate and two $10 concession vouchers for only $89. Parking passes are additional, but remember that any car with four or more passengers parks for free under THE PLAYERS “Four for Free” policy (download vouchers at www.PGATOUR.COM/theplayers).

Families can start the day at a non-denominational church service on the Presentation Lawn of the TPC Sawgrass Clubhouse (7:30-8:30 a.m.) and then enjoy a special Mother’s Day breakfast (8–10:30 a.m.) or brunch (11 a.m.–2:30 p.m.) in the TPC Sawgrass Clubhouse.  Please note: fans who have reservations for breakfast can gain access to the clubhouse without a clubhouse ticket. Brunch reservations require a clubhouse ticket.

Moms and families will enjoy being a part of THE PLAYERS “Pink Out,” where fans, players, caddies, sponsors and volunteers are encouraged to wear pink in support of Mother’s Day and breast cancer research.  For every fan in attendance, a donation will be made to 26.2 with Donna, a local charitable organization that raises funds for ground-breaking breast cancer research at Mayo Clinic and women living with breast cancer. In 2012, 26.2 with Donna earned a donation of $35,510 on Championship Sunday, part of more than $80,000 that was generated thanks to the organization’s partnership with THE PLAYERS.  New in 2013, fans will also have the opportunity to donate $1 to 26.2 with Donna in THE PLAYERS merchandise shops on course. All proceeds from these donations will directly benefit 26.2 with Donna.

THE PLAYERS will also celebrate the “Pink Out” theme in the following ways:

  • Mothers in attendance will receive a commemorative Mother’s Day pin.
  • The Sawgrass Splash, THE PLAYERS signature cocktail, will be pink on Sunday.
  • Golf balls used at the PwC 17th Hole Challenge in the Stadium Village will be pink.
  • There will be additional pink floral displays around TPC Sawgrass, most notably on Tree Island (in the lake at No. 17).  That display is usually comprised of white begonias, yellow marigolds and blue delphinium.  Following Saturday’s round, however, the TPC Sawgrass Agronomy team will work through the night to convert the display to pink.  Tree Island will be “Pinked Out” with 4,000 pink vincas and 200 Hawaiian Tis.
  • A pink “THE PLAYERS” flag will fly at Four Points.
  • Mother’s Day-themed vignettes will air during NBC’s telecast, featuring some of the game’s brightest stars and their moms.
  • THE PLAYERS 5K with Donna participants (in their pink shirts) can gain access to the “5K with Donna Courtyard.”

Families can enjoy a variety of activities at the McKenzie Noelle Wilson Foundation Kid Zone, featuring  the ultimate “GameTruck,” a mobile, video-game theater equipped with HDTVs and a wide selection of games for Xbox360, Wii, PlayStation3, as well as a GameCoach who manages the activities so parents can relax.  The Kid Zone also offers a putt-putt course, arts and crafts, face-painting and an inflatable bounce house for the kids to blow off some steam.  Located at the end of the Nicklaus Gate walkway, the Kid Zone features a restroom trailer, a misting tent where everyone can cool down and kid-friendly food options.

All fans – especially women and mothers – are also invited to visit the Women’s Pavilion, which is making its national debut at THE PLAYERS and will continue at 10 other PGA TOUR events this season.  The Women’s Pavilion, located next to 16 Tee, close to The Patio, will offer a unique, fun and engaging experience both on and off the course with championship-style games, interactive activities and the opportunity for women to learn more about their overall well-being.
