The Northeast Florida Regional Council is accepting nominations for its 2016 Regional Excellence Awards. Nominations are due by Friday, Oct. 14,  in 12 categories.

• Regional Award for Excellence in Affordable Housing
• Regional Award for Excellence in Culture, Historic Preservation or Adaptive Reuse
• Regional Award for Excellence in Economic Development & Tourism
• Regional Award for Excellence in Education
• Regional Award for Excellence in Environmental Stewardship
• Regional Award for Excellence in Planning and Growth Management
• Regional Award for Excellence in Public Safety
• Regional Award for Excellence in Inclusion
• Regional Award for Excellence in Transportation
• Regional Quality of Life Award
• Regional Special Achievement Award
• The Northeast Florida Regional Leadership Award

The awards program is designed to recognize regional excellence in a variety of critical arenas essential to positioning the regional community as a model of cooperation and coordination. Presentation of the awards will be made at the elected officials reception and awards luncheon ceremony on Thursday, Dec. 1, at the University of North Florida.
