January 24th, 2020 · Leave a Comment

Jax Book Fest, a community event that brings authors and book lovers together, returns to the Main Library on leap day, Feb. 29, 2020.

Keynote speakers include Brad Meltzer, New York Times best-selling author of every genre—fiction, nonfiction and children’s books, and host of History Channel’s Brad Meltzer’s Decoded and H2’s Brad Meltzer’s Lost.

Karma Wilson, New York Times best-selling author of children’s books, and Neal Shusterman, New York Times best-selling author of books for young adults, will also give presentations. In addition, more than 80 local authors of every genre will exhibit, sell and sign books for fans. Award-winning author Laura Lee Smith will present a workshop for aspiring writers and library staff will lead SELF-e workshops to help indie writers get published. The event is free and open to the public.

During the event, shop the San Marco Books and More pop-up bookstore, rock to the sounds of a live DJ, enjoy music from Noteworthy jazz band, and hear local author readings. Bring the kids for face painting and balloon twisting, children’s storytime, the Wild Wonders animal show and MOSH. Learn about the keynote speakers and other author programs and sign up to be the first to hear about the schedule of events and full list of participating authors at jaxbookfest.org.

While supplies last, free commemorative Jax Book Fest totes will be given away, one per family with checkout of any physical material from the Main Library on Feb. 29, 2020, or to new library cardholders who sign up for their card on Feb. 29, 2020 at the Main Library.

Jax Book Fest is made possible by the Jacksonville Public Library Foundation and participating sponsors. The children’s programs were sponsored in part by the Joy G. Korman Endowment. Other sponsors include the Friends of the Jacksonville Public Library and Ameris Bank. For information on how to sponsor the event, visit www.jplfoundation.org.
